“I can’t be worried about that shit. Life goes on, man.” -The Dude

Sometimes, when going through our day-to-day lives, things don’t work out the way we plan (gasp!). I know, you’re shocked at the knowledge that I’ve just dropped on your noggin. Unfortunately, it true. It’s actually one of the truest facts of life. So true that if there was a trueness machine (not even sure if “trueness” is a real word) that processed how true something was, the fact that not everything goes according to plan would make the thing blow up like a nuclear bomb. Shit happens. All the time. Life’s never, ever a bump free ride.

Yes, it sucks. You have a plan. A plan that has been meticulously thought out and molded to allow you to have the most positive outcome possible. You’re proud of your plan and all that you’ve put into it. It’s a good plan, after all.

But, something goes wrong. Something happens that throws your plan into a deep, downward spiral. One detail is altered, maybe only slightly, and everything that you thought of is now a heaping pile of crap. Poo. Doody. (insert other word for fecal matter here)

Your freaking out. Now what are you going to do? Your beautiful plan is ruined! Everything that you worked for has gone down the tubes. All hope is lost…

Clearly, I’m kidding. Actually, the previous paragraph is a perfect example of what not to do. Don’t wig out if everything doesn’t go your way. Don’t lose control if a monkey wrench gets thrown into your plan. Don’t think that the end-game of your plan still can’t be achieved.

Even though everything didn’t go according to plan, you can still achieve whatever goal it was that you were striving for. You just have to be a little flexible. You can’t let one little set back ruin your entire strategy. You have to roll with the punches.

All you gotta do is make a few slight adjustments. A twist here, a nudge there, and presto, you’re back in business. You have to be able to change your plan to accommodate for all those pesky bumps that arise in the road. The worst possible thing you can be is inflexible. If you can’t make some alterations to your grand plan, well, you’re not gonna get very far.

So do some stretches. Get flexible. Allow yourself to change your plans to accomplish whatever it is that you want to accomplish. Don’t make you’re plans so rigid and so concrete that you box yourself in when something goes wrong. Don’t be stiff. Just go with the flow. Take things as they come. Twist, bend, or maybe even break your plans if that’s what it takes to stay on track.

Maybe you don’t make your high school football team, maybe you find out that you hate your major when you get to college, maybe your dream job isn’t all that you thought it would be. Make some changes. Try out for a different team, join a club switch your damn major, switch your major again, look for a different job, maybe give your job a second shot. Do whatever it is that you have to do to get to where you want to go. Life happens. Plans change. It’s the ones who can adapt to that change who are the most successful.

You can’t worry too much when things don’t your way. Because life isn’t going to stop just because everything’s not going perfect. It’s going to keep right on going, and if you don’t adjust you’re going to get run over. You’re going to get trampled by a stampede of change that’s constantly running rampant. I don’t know about you, but getting trampled doesn’t sound too fun.

If you ever get stressed out about stuff, just remember the wise words of the Dude: “I can’t be worried about that shit. Life goes on, man.”.

    1. YES!! IT’S HORRIBLE!!!!

Haha I’m just kidding. Well, sometimes change ins’t very pleasant. Actually, it can be very unsettling. But, like I said, change is gonna happen whether we like it or not. It’s up to us to roll with the changes or get run over by them. I rather prefer not to be run over
